Mariachi Dinastia de Dulce Perez

Based in San Diego CA

Mariachi Dinastía (Originally Formed as Mariachi Divinas) was established in June 2012 by Dulce Victoria Perez in the culturally rich South Bay region of San Diego, California. A talented vocalist and mariachi musician, Dulce’s passion for Mexican music was evident from an early age. During her sophomore year at Southwestern College, her musical ability stood out to both classmates and instructors. Joey Molina, then director of the SWC choir, recognized her exceptional vocal range and deep-rooted connection to mariachi and encouraged her to pursue greater opportunities. He introduced her to Bill Virchis, a major force in San Diego’s performing arts scene, known for his decades of leadership in both the Sweetwater Union High School District and at Southwestern College.

Inspired by their encouragement, Dulce envisioned something bold—a mariachi ensemble led by women, bringing new energy and perspective to a deeply traditional art form. While all-female mariachis had become more common in Los Angeles, San Diego had yet to see a group like this. Seeing an opportunity to innovate while honoring tradition, Dulce reached out to fellow musicians in the mariachi community—many of them women who, like her, had long dreamed of taking center stage in a genre typically dominated by men.

Her vision quickly gained traction. The group caught the attention of Bill Virchis once again, who helped secure them a regular performance slot at Fiesta de Reyes, a landmark restaurant in San Diego’s historic Old Town. This residency became their proving ground—a place where they could sharpen their skills, build chemistry, and connect with an audience that was immediately drawn to their charisma and talent.

From these roots, Mariachi Dinastía blossomed into one of the most respected and sought-after mariachi groups in the region. Their performances are known for their vibrant energy, pitch-perfect harmonies, and a deep respect for the cultural heritage they represent. They have since graced stages and screens alike, appearing at the Del Mar Fair, on CW News San Diego and KUSI News, and performing at the historic Colorado Belle Resort and Casino. Their music has crossed state lines as well, with performances in Arizona and growing demand for shows throughout the United States.

Though proudly female-led and formed in the spirit of creating more space for women in mariachi, Mariachi Dinastía is not an all-female group. As the ensemble evolved, it has welcomed a number of talented male musicians whose artistry complements and supports the group’s powerful dynamic. Together, the members form a close-knit musical family—dedicated to preserving the beauty of traditional mariachi while pushing its boundaries, celebrating inclusion, and bringing joy to audiences wherever they go.

Whether it’s a grand stage or an intimate celebration, Mariachi Dinastía continues to captivate with a sound that is as authentic as it is trailblazing—rooted in tradition, driven by passion, and led by a remarkable woman with a mission to share the soul of Mexico through every note.
